Title IX Gender Discrimination
Section 1681 of Title IX states:
No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance . . .
As a law firm committed to civil rights and gender equality, Shooster, Kahn & Kleinman represents clients in Title IX actions. If you feel you have suffered gender discrimination by a university or school of higher learning, we encourage you to contact at attorney at our firm to learn more about your rights.
Gender Equality in Sports Programs
One area where Title IX litigation has frequently arisen is sports. Frequently, universities offer sports opportunities to men that are not offered to women. As women are going to college in increasing numbers, the number of women athletes has not always increased at the same rate. For instance, if a college is 55% female, but only 40% of athletes are female, the college may well be in violation of Title IX.
Title IX cases are highly complex in nature and require the backing of a law firm that is deeply committed and passionate about civil rights. Our attorneys have earned a reputation throughout Broward County and across southern Florida as leading civil and constitutional rights attorneys. If you have been treated unfairly in violation of your right to equal opportunity and access, our team of experienced attorneys can provide the help you need.
